Project of Doom Block in Progress

I'm still paper piecing blocks for my Harry Potter Project of doom quilt.  This one on my design board has a million little pieces.  It's Trevor, Neville's toad.  He's not all put together yet.  I realized after I started making him in different shades of green that toads are all brown, aren't they?

The paper piecing for this project gets pretty messy.  I have never tried this technique before and now I'm totally addicted to it.

My sewing area is a little corner of my garage.  Just me and the spiders.  You can see that I have piles of fabric thrown around for just one little block.  It will get worse before it gets better.  Then I will fold up all of these fabrics and get out another stack for the next block.  I've learned so much making this quilt that I want to make another version when I finish this.

If you are interested in making your own Project of Doom, you can find all of the free patterns at Fandom in Stitches.

When I first looked at this post, I assumed the block was much bigger (looking at the close up picture). Seeing it on your design wall, the size is made clear. Yikes. Those are some tiny pieces. And I think it is fine if your toad is green...
